2023 Toyota Prius vs 2023 RAV4 Hybrid

Toyota Prius

There is a reason why the Toyota Prius has always been a fan favorite, and that is because it was the very first hybrid and reached over 50 mpg over 20 years ago. Prius has a new competitor, which is the impressive SUV RAV4 hybrid. While the focus shifted a little to the RAV4, it’s now being returned to the brand new redesigned fifth-generation Prius. The new Prius has excellent fuel economy, larger cargo space, and a more modern look. The real question is, which vehicle will come out on top?

In terms of the RAV4 hybrid, it’s a bigger SUV but only by a little bit. The RAV4 is more expansive and is about a foot taller than the Prius, with a bit more legroom. Also, the RAV4 has double the amount of cargo space, but the Prius LE trim offers more room at 23.8 cubic feet, but it still doesn’t compete with the RAV4.

For the performance category, both vehicles are matched up well. The RAV4 hybrid offers a bigger engine and a 25 hp lead and will do better off-road than its competitor. On the other hand, Prius has better fuel economy, is lighter in weight, and gets 52 mpg altogether.

Both cars offer all-wheel-drive and include Toyota’s 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Regarding the higher trim levels, Prius has Toyota’s 12.3-inch touchscreen, whereas the RAV4’s only gets to 10.5 inches. The Prius also offers 19-inch wheels, LED tail lights, a wireless charging pad, and a storage cover.

Both cars offer automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane centering, automatic high beams, and road sign assist. Prius is a newer car model, so its safety features are more up-to-date. For example, the Prius has Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, whereas the RAV4 has TSS 2.5. Even though the RAV4 is top in its safety game, it still doesn’t offer a few features that the Prius has. The 2023 RAV4 Hybrid LE has a starting price of $31,560 (plus destination fee), and the Prius XLE has a starting price of $31,990 (plus destination fee).

The time has come to decide which Toyota hybrid is better, and the winner is…Prius! Prius comes out on top because it has better safety features, fuel economy, and more features for a similar price. On a serious note, both vehicles are impressive and have a lot to offer to the table, so no matter which car a customer goes with, they won’t be disappointed.
