A New Affordable Pickup Truck Is Joining The Toyota Lineup
There is a pickup truck coming from Toyota that is extremely affordable and is a great but simple way to get a driver from one location to the next. The Toyota IMV 0 has no screens, no radio, and no buttons inside the vehicle but it does have a flatbed and is a two-door cab. If a buyer wants to add more features, then that is possible but the pickup truck is as simple as it sounds. The IMV 0 was made in Thailand but the name will most likely change to the Hilux Champ.
Toyota did recently bring the truck to the Japan Mobility Show to show off the vehicle and to show how the IMV 0 can transform itself into a mobile DJ booth, coffee shop, or overlanding RV. There aren’t a lot of similarities between this new pickup and the Corolla sedan and the prices are very different as well. The 2024 Corolla costs $22,995 (plus destination fee) and the IMV 0/Hilux Champ will be around $10,000 by the time it debuts in Thailand.Â
Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem the IMV 0 will be sold in the U.S. because the U.S. has a lot more guidelines to follow which will make the vehicle even more expensive. The IMV 0 comes with rear-wheel drive and a gasoline 2.0-liter inline-four that pairs with a 5-speed manual transmission. A vehicle that is somewhat equivalent to the IMV 0 is probably a rental moving van and even though this new pickup is simple, it seems that it does a great job at moving cargo/passengers from point A to point B.Â
Toyota Electric Concept VehiclesÂ
Toyota has officially come around to making all-electric vehicles a top priority to keep up with the competition. Recently, at the Japan Mobility Show, Toyota showcased a few different electric concept vehicles even though these specific models may never hit local dealerships. Three of the vehicles showcased were the Toyota EPU, Land Cruiser Se, and the Land Hopper which all have a very futuristic look and feel. Again, it doesn’t seem that any of these electric concept vehicles will ever go on sale but maybe that will change over time. On the other hand, there is a vehicle currently on sale and that is the impressive Toyota bZ4X electric SUV, which has quickly become a fan favorite among customers.
Toyota’s First EV
Introducing the 2023 Toyota bZ4X, which is Toyota’s first fully electric vehicle, and people are super excited about it! This is a five-passenger car and thrives on how spacious the inside is. From an outside view, the exterior design is sleek, stylish, and modern. The starting rate of this new model is $42,000 (plus destination fee). This electric SUV has five different exterior colors: Wind Chill Pearl, Supersonic Red, Heavy Metal, Elemental Silver Metallic, and Black.
While designing this car, Toyota did a great job considering what the consumers would want. The bZ4X will come with cruise control and lane-keeping assist. Having a vehicle with lane-keeping assist is a safe way to prevent the driver from drifting into a different lane. There is an X-Mode (which was designed by the Subaru brand), but Toyota does own a portion of it and has installed it in this new vehicle. This mode helps people who live in more extreme climates.Â
The bZ4X’s X-Mode allows any driver to be more particular about what the car is driving through. For example, if the car is driving through snow, mud, or large puddles of water, the vehicle will know how much power should be used with this mode alone. This feature should put the driver’s mind at ease and not worry.Â
Just in case the information above isn’t convincing enough that this EV is an amazing car, here are a few more reasons that might be convincing. The electric engine gets 201 horsepower and 196 lb-ft of torque in the front-wheel-drive model. There is a 12.3-inch touch screen that comes with wireless Apple Carplay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa Connectivity.Â

I would much rather have the Hilux Champ than the Stout, and I would pay stout prices for a new Hilux Champ. Please bring this to USA, it would sell like hotcakes, even with a markup. I’m so frustrated we can’t have actual utility trucks in the US.
The US chicken tax needs to go away so working class people can buy useful vehicles. This is exactly why the 2nd American Revolution is necessary and overdue. Taxation without representing the will of the people is exactly why we threw the British off America. Now we have to drive the democrat globalists terrorists off America in 2024!
I am looking for a Toyota tough pick up truck at a reasonable price. I currently own a scion Xbox with 216000 miles on it (2007) and a 1989 pick up with 227,000 miles I need to replace, I am not willing to spend a lot of money.
I’m an american and I want one of these so bad.
Make them in Mexico like the tacomas!! Have it pass emissions etc etc. looking for a truck just like that!!
I’m wait to buy a Champ. Totally impressed with the concept of no bells and whistles truck. Love the base 2lt power plant, only concern I have has been some of the reviewers feed back on the build quality. Love to see this built in the America’s.
Just love the Americans politics. You understand that the chicken tax is a US tariff imposed by LBJ in retaliation to France an Germany imposing a tariff on US chickens being dumped on world markets at that time. This was due to US farmers subsidies. Some things never change, we just wash, rinse and repeat.
Based in the Carribean looking forward seeing the trucks availability here.
Also looking for more information on truck options, for more non paved roads, adding jump seats or covered cab extension.
Will the IMV 0 ever be available in the USA?
If anyone’s interested I’m gonna but one of these in Thailand and have them shipped to US and wrap them in Tesla Cybertruck skins. Total cost will be $10K+$2K skins + $2K transport charge + $1K documentation + $5K Additional Dealer profit.
Not sure what that ads up to
I have purchased 4 Toyotas and have helped the family to purchase 4 more cars. I love Toyota, but have learned to distrust the local dealerships. Please allow us to purchase new cars and trucks direct from Toyota in the future. I have had very bad experiences with Toyota of Rockhill and Scott Clark Toyota in Matthews NC.
