A New Affordable Pickup Truck Is Joining The Toyota Lineup

Toyota IMV 0

There is a pickup truck coming from Toyota that is extremely affordable and is a great but simple way to get a driver from one location to the next. The Toyota IMV 0 has no screens, no radio, and no buttons inside the vehicle but it does have a flatbed and is a two-door cab. If a buyer wants to add more features, then that is possible but the pickup truck is as simple as it sounds. The IMV 0 was made in Thailand but the name will most likely change to the Hilux Champ.

Toyota did recently bring the truck to the Japan Mobility Show to show off the vehicle and to show how the IMV 0 can transform itself into a mobile DJ booth, coffee shop, or overlanding RV. There aren’t a lot of similarities between this new pickup and the Corolla sedan and the prices are very different as well. The 2024 Corolla costs $22,995 (plus destination fee) and the IMV 0/Hilux Champ will be around $10,000 by the time it debuts in Thailand.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem the IMV 0 will be sold in the U.S. because the U.S. has a lot more guidelines to follow which will make the vehicle even more expensive. The IMV 0 comes with rear-wheel drive and a gasoline 2.0-liter inline-four that pairs with a 5-speed manual transmission. A vehicle that is somewhat equivalent to the IMV 0 is probably a rental moving van and even though this new pickup is simple, it seems that it does a great job at moving cargo/passengers from point A to point B.

Toyota Electric Concept Vehicles

Toyota has officially come around to making all-electric vehicles a top priority to keep up with the competition. Recently, at the Japan Mobility Show, Toyota showcased a few different electric concept vehicles even though these specific models may never hit local dealerships. Three of the vehicles showcased were the Toyota EPU, Land Cruiser Se, and the Land Hopper which all have a very futuristic look and feel. Again, it doesn’t seem that any of these electric concept vehicles will ever go on sale but maybe that will change over time. On the other hand, there is a vehicle currently on sale and that is the impressive Toyota bZ4X electric SUV, which has quickly become a fan favorite among customers.

Toyota’s First EV

Introducing the 2023 Toyota bZ4X, which is Toyota’s first fully electric vehicle, and people are super excited about it! This is a five-passenger car and thrives on how spacious the inside is. From an outside view, the exterior design is sleek, stylish, and modern. The starting rate of this new model is $42,000 (plus destination fee). This electric SUV has five different exterior colors: Wind Chill Pearl, Supersonic Red, Heavy Metal, Elemental Silver Metallic, and Black.

While designing this car, Toyota did a great job considering what the consumers would want. The bZ4X will come with cruise control and lane-keeping assist. Having a vehicle with lane-keeping assist is a safe way to prevent the driver from drifting into a different lane. There is an X-Mode (which was designed by the Subaru brand), but Toyota does own a portion of it and has installed it in this new vehicle. This mode helps people who live in more extreme climates.

The bZ4X’s X-Mode allows any driver to be more particular about what the car is driving through. For example, if the car is driving through snow, mud, or large puddles of water, the vehicle will know how much power should be used with this mode alone. This feature should put the driver’s mind at ease and not worry.

Just in case the information above isn’t convincing enough that this EV is an amazing car, here are a few more reasons that might be convincing. The electric engine gets 201 horsepower and 196 lb-ft of torque in the front-wheel-drive model. There is a 12.3-inch touch screen that comes with wireless Apple Carplay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa Connectivity.
